What we check before a driver's first ride goes live, and what we never show.
A person checks every driver
ID, selfie, driving licence, registration papers and a photo of the car: a member of our team reviews every file before a driver can post a ride.
Your number stays private
Other members see your first name, your last initial and your photo. Never your phone number.
A price cap on every route
On Douala ⇄ Yaoundé, no driver can charge more than 7 000 FCFA per seat. Carpooling is for sharing costs, not for making a profit.
Adults only
You must be 18 to sign up, and every account is tied to a phone number verified by text message.

How do I pay for the ride?
In cash, straight to the driver, when you set off. Mobile Money payment is coming in a later version.
How much does a seat cost?
Drivers set their own price, within a limit set for each route. On Douala ⇄ Yaoundé, the reference price is 5 000 FCFA and the maximum is 7 000 FCFA per seat. During the launch, kombi charges no fees.
Who are the drivers?
Private individuals who are already making the trip and offer their empty seats. Each one has had their ID, licence and car checked by our team before posting a ride.
Is kombi a travel agency?
No. kombi connects private individuals who share the cost of a trip they're already making. Accounts that post rides in bulk, the way a transport company would, are reviewed.
What if I need to cancel?
Cancelling is free up to 3 hours before departure, and the driver is notified. After that, think of the driver: they kept a seat for you.
Can other members see my phone number?
No. Your number is used to log you in and to notify you. Other members only see your first name, last initial and photo.
Can I bring luggage?
Every ride shows what the driver accepts: no luggage, small, medium or large. Check before you book.
Do I need to install an app?
No. kombi opens in your phone's browser. Pages are light and built to work on 3G. The app itself is in French for now; the English version is on its way.
